However, I feel that we should still set healthy achievable goals to get a better version of ourselves because the world is evolving and challenges are ever coming.
One of my beauty goal in life is to have a shapely fuller looking face because such look always implies a friendly, happy and attractive personality of that person to me in my opinion. So what are your beauty goals?
As a full-time content creator, I am under a lot of stress most of the time. The stress to create interesting but factual contents. The stress to meet the deadlines & expectations of my clients. The stress of keeping in trend & looking good at all times. Although pushing myself over the limit to accomplish for my work is very normal for me, this no doubt has aged me quite a bit.
To worsen the condition, my late night burns, unhealthy diet & the tension from daily challenges attributed to the loss of collagen at an amazing rate. The aftermath? Great loss of volume in my face at areas that I dreaded of, making me looking older than my age and haggard.
Although taking collagen & bird nest supplements are working for me, these certain areas on my face will not be volumized. Just like no matter how hard I worked out, the fats at certain areas on my body will not go away. Why is my body behaving strangely this way??!

MY CONCERNS

From my experiences in life, a pleasant beauty look like this goes far more than skin deep because humans are visual animals and the way we appear can affect how people see and interact with us. This is why people with a societal kind of pretty faces are more likely to get the jobs they wanted, and majority even think that people who are gorgeous are all smart and friendly people.
Since I’m constantly disturbed by the hollowness on certain areas on my face that no amount of skincare products, collagen or massages could help, I decided to take a leap of faith and try dermal fillers first time in my life!

Fillers can add fullness and restore volume to the areas of our face that have hollowed out. Although there are many good fillers in the aesthetic industry, each actually caters to different needs hence it is really important to seek assistance from a good doctor instead of going to a random one who will do a lower grade job on you. Your enhanced contours should restore youthfulness, project better facial proportions, giving us better physical appeal that lead our confidence shine.
All the dermal fillers are medical products and is categorise by their fluidity and cohesiveness on the amount of inter-molecular bonds between the hyaluronic acid. These dermal fillers have been developed for injection into the skin, & can be grouped into two types namely hyaluronic acid fillers and non-hyaluronic acid or collagen-stimulating fillers.
Hyaluronic acid fillers, as the name suggests, contain hyaluronic acid, which is an ingredient that is safe for most people. Hyaluronic acid is a natural compound found in our skin, and is responsible for many functions in our body like hydration and lubrication of joints. It also aids tissue repair and stimulates the production of the connective tissue that plumps our skin (i.e. collagen).
On the other hand, non-hyaluronic acid or collagen-stimulating fillers use ingredients that stimulate our body’s own collagen for the same but longer-lasting effect. They are also called known as bio-stimulating fillers which contain safe, synthetically produced compounds. When injected into the skin, it will volumises the area & stimulates the body’s fibroblasts to produce collagen. The expected results from this is to have a longer-lasting volumization in the treated areas.
THE TREATMENT
Dr. Terence Tan advised me to pick Juvéderm for my procedure as it is a worldwide trusted brand which most of his patients are highly satisfied about on the results and lastingness. The Juvéderm range of fillers is the collection of injectable fillers made with hyaluronic acid where we can find it naturally in our skin, and has the unique capacity to attract and retain moisture up to 1,000 times its weight in water. This is why fillers of such nature can helps the skin to look plump & supple.
Besides containing hyaluronic acid, the Juvéderm fillers are uniquely formulated with lidocaine, an anesthesia which minimizes discomfort during treatment significantly. For most aesthetics procedures, we may first apply numbing cream and local anesthetic only, and so the addition of lidocaine will reduced discomfort greatly without any additional discomfort or injection.
Juvéderm range of fillers are differentiated based on the firmness and viscosity (thickness and stickiness) of the gel. Whether you need a firmer or softer filler would depend on the area that requires treatment, the condition of your skin, and the desired result. Most doctors will prescribe a firmer filler together with a softer one, to fill up facial volume loss and at the same time deliver a natural result. There are not much danger since hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the skin<

THE PROCESS
Dr. Terence Tan prescribed the Juvéderm Volbella filler for my undereye and mid-face area as it is a softer filler. This is suitable for filling in more delicate areas such as the under-eye area without looking unnatural. I was also given Juvéderm Voluma for the nasolabial folds as it is a slightly firmer filler and is needed to fill up these deeper folds effectively.
Dr Terence Tan has this “Magic Needle’ treatment technique for his filler injection. This might sounds gimmicky but totally not as this is a great tool and technique to create a natural yet effective lift to my face.
The Magic Needle is actually not a needle but a micro-cannula. It distributes the filler more evenly, and as it is blunt and extremely pliable, it slides under our skin with minimal discomfort. This allows doctors to apply the filler with practically no pain or bruising.
I’m glad that Dr. Terence Tan uses this to rejuvenate my face because I really don’t feel the sharp poking or tension within when he is adjusting to different angles to inject the filler. Something very different and not that I have imagine of.
OBSERVATION RIGHT AFTER THE TREATMENT
The whole procedure took less than an hour and it is highly comfortable and professionally done.
• My under-eye areas are filled up with less obvious on my dark eye rings and eye bag.
• My mid face is lifted because of the added fillers into my cheeks, making my face shapelier
• Marionette lines reduced slightly without feeling painful or swollen at the area of treatment, corners of lips are slightly more upturned now.
• Great effect on nasolabial folds for instant filled up without looking unnatural or feeling stiff.
REVIEW ON THE TREATMENT (AFTER 1 MONTH)
There are a few post treatment aftercare to take note. Side effects including bruising, swelling, redness and tenderness at injection sites (I experienced none but I felt lumpiness), these reactions are temporary and will resolve within a week.
You may return to your normal activities post treatment but not to touch the treatment areas or applying makeup to them for at least 5 hours to reduce the risk of site infection.
Avoid strenuous exercise and pressing on treated areas at least for two days after treatment. Light washing on face and make up are acceptable at this period of time.
If you experience any bruising, please avoid alcohol consumption, Aspirin, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication (e.g.painkillers) such as Mefenamic Add (Ponstan) and Naproxen (Synflex).
For the best recovery, always follow the doctors’ instructions closely.
MY AFTER THOUGHT ON JUVÉDERM TREATMENT
At Halley Medical Aesthetics, I feel that everything they do is of a labour of love. They helped me to uncover my beauty with the use of medical aesthetic tools and techniques that are safe & medically-effective.
We can still look good despite all the hectic schedule, tremendous responsibilities and nasty diet. Importantly we must filled up the hollowness on our face although it is part and parcel of natural aging, but with the right volume and cushioning given.
